Internationally acclaimed local women’s barbershop chorus, Surrey Harmony, took to the Miller Centre stage last Sunday and entertained the sell-out crowd with a mix of vocal delights both old and new. The extremely appreciative audience were delighted by the show; one audience member, Sue Fullard from Warlingham, said “I’ve seen them sing a few times now – they’re so slick and they always look like they’re having a wonderful time up there on stage. It’s always a good night out.”
Next month the chorus is competing at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham, where, should they bring home the gold medal, they will get a chance to travel to Hawaii for the International Finals next year.
The Miller Centre concert saw four new girls join the chorus ranks for the first time in front of an audience. Natalie Guest, Christina Smith, Andrea Lawson and Lorna Easthope are Surrey Harmony’s latest recruits and were excited to be able to take part. Natalie said “It was a really fun evening, the audience was lovely and it was great to be able to try out our competition package in front of an audience before Birmingham”.
