Surrey Harmony Women’s Barbershop Chorus

Raising the roof on their debut

We love to raise the roof with our singing, and now we've helped to do it literally. We were asked to perform at St John's Church in Hurst Green, Oxted to help with their fund raising campaign for a new extension. They hope to start work on the project in the coming months.

The concert was excellent performance preparation for our new members who are looking forward to competing at Regional Convention next month. They joined us on stage for the second half of our programme including our competition package.

The concert was also a debut for our new quartet Polyphonic who will be competing in Birmingham for the first time and for Ceejai Seaman who is the new bass in Hunky-Dory. Our special guests were Twist, the quartet featuring our Assistant Director Valerie. It was great to see our old friends, Debbie, Becky and Denise.

St John's Church is a lovely venue for us to sing, even if it comes as something of a shock to members of the audience on the first row as they realise just how close they are to our high-kicking, stick-twirling front row.

We wish the St John's congregation every success with their extension project and look forward to singing there again when it's completed.
