| We are counting down the days now until we
head to Las Vegas for the 60th Sweet Adelines
International Convention and Competition. All of our
fund-raising, coaching and hard work under Jenny’s
direction is coming to fruition now as we put the
finishing touches to our competition package.
Including Jenny we will have 75 members on stage
in Las Vegas. We’ll miss everyone who is not able to
come with us this time, but we know they will be
with us every note and choreographed move we make.
Surrey Harmony is delighted that our
SH-ooters will
be joining us in Las Vegas. They are part of the
Surrey Harmony family now, and we hope they will
enjoy the experience. We have some 25 members who
will be taking part for the first time in an
International Competition.
Our place in the draw means that we can
expect to sing in front of around 10,000 people when
we walk out on that stage. It sends shivers up the
spine just thinking about it.

We are
very excited as this year’s competition
staged at the Mack and Mabel Centre in Las
Vegas is being billed as the Clash of the
Titans.
The stakes will be high as
six of the competing choruses have dominated
the field in the past three decades or so.
Since 1973 Gem City Chorus has taken home
the gold five times (1974, ‘77, ‘82, ‘85,
and ‘91), Melodeers Chorus four times (1995,
‘98, ‘01 and ‘04), Rich-Tone Chorus three
times (1992, ‘96 and ‘99), North Metro
Chorus three times (1997, 2000 and ‘03), San
Diego Chorus twice (1975 and 2002) and
Mission Valley Chorus captured the gold in
1976.
The
competition will be tough, place
your bets on who will take the title
of 2006 Chorus Champions. |
