Coaching Retreat

Revitalised, refreshed, and recharged for a successful 2006. That’s Surrey Harmony members after another exhausting but enjoyable retreat with our coach Jim Arns, Director of The Melodeers four times International Champions.

Jim Arns and Jenny Lawson at the Surrey Harmony coaching weekend

Jim spent the weekend working with us on our two competition songs which we will be performing in Las Vegas. How proud we all were when he said he could hear the improvements Jenny had made since his last visit 12 months ago. Since then of course we have won another gold medal, but as Jim proved, there is always room for more icing on the cake.

We’ll spend the next few months working with new energy on our songs before taking them to the Regional Convention in Plymouth. Although we won’t be competing, we will be having an evaluation done by the judges as part of our preparations for Las Vegas. For our new members and the "SH-ooters" it was the first chance to work with a coach of Jim's standing in the Sweet Adelines world. See ya in Vegas Jim!

The weekend wasn’t “all work and no play” as our other photos prove. Among the hilarious games organised was one to design a new costume for Surrey Harmony. Although beautifully modelled by Emma, Valerie and Jackie we are all hoping the Costume Committee doesn’t take take it seriously!
