Kentucky Groovin'

"This may be the last time we ever sing these songs like this".

Jenny’s prophetic words as our 2007 retreat got underway with coach Doug Harrington. After 12 solid hours of rehearsals over three days our competition songs are barely recognisable.

AJust as we’d all passed our tapes Doug changed notes, words and rhythms until the point where our heads hurt.Just as we’d all passed our tapes Doug changed notes, words and rhythms until the point where our heads hurt. But what a difference Doug has made. We’re excited and ready for three months of hard work in the run up to the Convention in May. Jenny is now studying hours of video to make notes of all the changes and spare a thought for Choreographer Kären who has also gone back to the drawing board with some of our up tune moves.

Our 2007 retreat was a huge success. Even if he couldn’t manage to teach us how to say his name with a Kentucky accent, Doug has breathed new passion into our ballad and given our up tune a new energy.

We had a great evening of entertainment thanks to balloons, brooms and some very strange drawings. What some people will do for a piece of chocolate is worrying and even at midnight after a long day of rehearsal some members were still willing to crawl through plastic tunnels!
