“Let’s get together again, for we’ve had a wonderful time” may be the lyrics of a well know barbershop song but it’s also how we feel after a wonderful night of music and song with our friends The Kentones.

We were invited to be guests of the Bromley in Kent based male barbershop club on Saturday
3rd November. It was a superbly well organised and supported event with some 500 people packed into the hall of the Darrick Wood School in Orpington.
The fireworks were going off outside, but the hall was full of sparkle as well. Our sets comprised some of our favourites - our debut of “You Raise Me Up” went down particularly well and The Kentones appreciated us ripping off our skirts!
We had performances from our quartets Zig Zag who sang two songs by Billy Joel; and Hunky Dory who sang a Duke Ellington number as well as “Only You” made famous by Yazoo and the Flying Pickets.

The audience was extremely appreciative of the programme and enjoyed singing along to our wartime songs “Apple Blossom Time” and “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree”.

It was a big night for four of the newest members of Surrey Harmony who were taking part in their first show. Congratulations to them.

The evening finished with The Kentones and Surrey Harmony squeezed on the stage together for “Let’s Get Together Again”. We hope it won’t be long until we are.
