To anyone outside the Sweet Adelines Organisation it’s hard to describe the
hours of preparation and sheer hard work that goes into attending the
International Convention. There’s usually a period of 18 months between
winning the Regional Contest and travelling to America and during that time
the task of keeping the Chorus focussed and motivated largely falls to our
Director Jenny.
“This
will be our fifth time at the International Convention, and every time we go
the amount of work we put in grows and grows. I am so proud of the members
of Surrey Harmony, the dedication they show to improving our standards. It’s
a long way to go to sing two songs, but it’s such a wonderful experience
that the enthusiasm never wanes”.
About a third of the Surrey Harmony chorus that appears on the stage in
Las Vegas will be competing at International for the first time. “It’s
wonderful to be giving so many new members the chance to take part and to
see the top choruses in action. I’d also like to thank our SH-ooter members
who have put in so much work, it will be great to have them with us”.
Jenny wants to continue expanding Surrey Harmony, her goal is to have 100
members. “But in Las Vegas my aim is to see all of our hard work and
coaching pay off with the best possible performance we can give. I hope to
see our points and position improve”.
